  • Auckland University of Technology is the second-largest university in New Zealand. It was founded on 1st January 2000, initially named Auckland Technical School.
  • In 1906, the University changed its name to Auckland Technical College. In 1913, it was also renamed as Seddon Memorial Technical College.

City Campus

    The city campus is located in the heart of Auckland. The largest site is situated on Wellesley Street East and is home to most of the academic units, central administration department including the Vice-Chancellor's office, and several research centers

Other facilities include an early childhood center, gym, Chinese center, Postgraduate center, Pasifika Student Support service, and Te Tari Awhina Learning Development Centre.

The city campus has a Central Library holding 245,000 books and journals on four floors.

South Campus

The South campus was built in 2010 and was the first university campus in the same region, offering undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, computer, information science, education, health science, and sport management.

South Campus possesses its own library, student information center, student lounges, computer labs, course information center

North Campus

The North Campus of Auckland University of Technology is located at Akoranga Drive in Northcote. The campus is home to the Faculty of Health and Environmental Science and School of Education.

North Campus is the sports hub of Auckland University of Technology, encompassing a gym, weights room, testing equipment, and indoor courts.

North Campus also provides five health clinics, oral, physiotherapy, podiatry, psychotherapy, ultrasound, located in the NorthMed Health Clinic.

Additional Campuses

AUT Millennium

  • The AUT's Millennium institute is located in the North Shore at Mairangi Bay, offers training in sports, and hosts national and local sports organizations including swimming, water polo, and weightlifting.
  • The institute offers training facilities, athlete accommodation, sports science laboratories.

Warkworth Radio Astronomical Observatory

  • The Auckland University of Technology has its own AUT Radio 12m telescope, its first telescope is located in Warkworth.
  • AUT Radio Telescope is a part of New Zealand and Australia's involvement in the Square Kilometer Array's international mega-science project

AUT Centre for Refugee Education

  • The Auckland University of Technology is located in Mangere, it offers a six weeks education program for the 1000 refugees coming to New Zealand every year under the government quota.
  • The education program teaches English language skills from early childhood to adult level and orientation to life in New Zealand.

City Campus

Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation

  • Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation close to the Auckland University of Technology's central campus is about to open in February 2021. It is controlled by UniLodge and offers accommodation to students of all universities, not just AUT. The residential has fully furnished 697 studio apartments along with a community recreation center.
  • Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation is just a minute walk away from the City campus and Wakefield Street and is located close to the public transport stand, making the commute easier.

Wellesley Student Accommodation

  • Wellesley Student Accommodation is located within 3 minutes of walk from the Central campus, accommodating around 502 students. It offers self-catered accommodation with completely furnished bedrooms and a shared lounge Dining area.

North Campus

Akoranga Student Village

  • The Akoranga Student Village provides shared apartment living to Auckland University of Technology North Campus. It has 40 self-catered fully-furnished apartments in townhouse-style accommodating nearly 207 residents and is located within 5 minutes of walk from North Campus.

South Campus

  • Auckland University of technology doesn't have student accommodation for students at the south campus, but off-campus accommodation is available.
