  • Thompson River University, also known as TRU, is a public research and teaching university offering undergraduate and graduate degree and vocational courses.
  • Established in 1970 by an act of the British Columbia Provincial Legislature, the Thompson River University is a public higher education institute funded by the Ministry of Advanced Education, Innovation and Technology of British Columbia.
  • The main campus is located in Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada and Satellite campus in Williams Lake, British Columbia; it also has a distance learning division TRU Open Learning. The University is named after the two rivers flowing in Kamloops – North Thompson and South Thompson.
  • University has received accreditation by the associate baccalaureate and master's degree levels by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU).
  • The University is additionally accredited by the Association of University and Colleges (AUCC), Council of International Schools, Languages Canada and Education Quality Assurance Designation (EQD).
  • This leading University is home to more than 3,500 international students from more than 100 countries across the globe. The University is also actively engaged.

Campus

  • Thompson River University's main campus is spread over 250 acres, located on the McGill Road in the southwest of the city in the Sahali area. The campus has 40 acres of beautiful garden and the largest arboretum in British Columbia's interior.
  • The University has a satellite campus in Williams Lake in BC's Cariboo-Chilcotin region and regional centers in 100 Mile House, Clearwater, Barriere, Ashcroft, and Lillooet.
  • The Kamloops campus is home to around 14,000 students, and around 11,000 students enrolled for distance learning.

Accomodation

On-Campus Accommodation

  • Thompson Road University offers on-campus accommodation for international students at its Kamloops campus, and the University houses three residential halls.

North Tower is an 11 storey building and has a capacity to accommodate around 570 students. North tower has various rooms available such as 2-4 bedroom suits, single and shared rooms including co-ed and separate units for males and females.

McGill Residence accommodates around 300 students in total, and the residential hall consists of 3 buildings with 75 units. Each unit is assigned to four students with male and female.

East Village is a new residential hall of the Thompson River University, and it can accommodate around 300 students, located towards the eastern section of the campus. Eastern Village offers students spacious and world-class accommodation choices such as 2,3, and 4 bedroom suits with private bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms.
