ÖSD stands for Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch (Austrian German Language Diploma). It is an internationally recognized examination system for German as a foreign and second language. ÖSD certificates are accepted by many universities, employers, and public authorities in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, and numerous other countries, depending on the institution's individual requirements.

The ÖSD (Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch) is an Austrian German language certification system recognized internationally. It follows the CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) scale, with exams available at every level from A1 to C2.

The ÖSD exams assess four language skills: Reading, Listening, Writing and Speaking.

Since 2019, most ÖSD exams are modular, allowing candidates to take individual modules separately or together. A1, A2, B2, and C1 are generally organized into written and oral modules, while B1 and C2 consist of four separately certifiable modules.

ÖSD examinations are conducted through an international network of licensed examination centres in numerous countries worldwide, including Austria, Germany, India, and many others.

The ÖSD does not set a single worldwide examination fee. Instead, each licensed ÖSD exam center determines its own fees, and candidates pay the exam center directly.

Full payment upfront, non-refundable: Most examination centres require payment at registration, although payment policies vary by centre.

No date changes after payment: Changes, cancellations, refunds, and transfers are subject to the policies of the individual examination centre.

No refunds for no-shows/lateness: Refund, transfer, cancellation, and rescheduling policies are determined by the individual examination centre. Many centres do not provide refunds for missed examinations or late arrivals unless specified in their own terms.

For the ÖSD (Österreichisches Sprachdiplom Deutsch) examination, strict rules apply to personal belongings to ensure a fair and secure testing environment.

• Bring a valid government-issued photo ID.

• Candidates should follow the examination centre's instructions regarding permitted writing materials.

• Mobile phones, smart watches, bags, and other electronic devices must normally be stored outside the examination room or switched off as instructed by the invigilators.

The following are the standard terms and conditions generally applicable to ÖSD exam registration.

• Registration is with the exam centre: You register through whichever licensed ÖSD exam centre you choose, and that centre's own contractual terms and registration procedures apply on top of ÖSD's core regulations.

• Admission is conditional: Admission to an examination is decided by the examination centre based on space availability, and the right to sit the exam only becomes legally binding once the centre has admitted the candidate and the exam fee has been paid in full.

• Retakes must be declared: Candidates wishing to retake an examination should follow the examination centre's registration procedures for repeat examinations.

• Special needs/impairments: Candidates with impairments or specific needs must inform the exam centre and/or ÖSD Head Office during registration and provide supporting documentation, which is handled confidentially under GDPR.

• Acceptance of terms: By registering, candidates (or their parent/guardian if a minor) confirm they've read and accepted the contractual terms, the current ÖSD examination regulations, and the examination guidelines.

• Data handling: Personal data and examination results are processed in accordance with applicable data protection laws (including GDPR where applicable) and may be shared where legally required or necessary for examination administration.
