Germany Aptitude Test (TestAS)
The word ‘TestAS’ in German language signifies Test für Auslandische Studierende, which simply means “Test for Foreign Students”; a test designed specifically for non-German students intending to apply to undergraduate programs in Germany. This assessment test is designed and developed by German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), to evaluate the academic aptitude of students from different educational background coming from all parts of the world to study in Germany. TestAS provides a fair, objective measure, of evaluating a student’s academic ability, to verify his success in a German university environment, and this test is recognized by many German higher education institutions.

TestAS Test Format
TestAS is conducted digitally at authorized centers across the world. The Test is aimed at evaluating analytical and problem-solving abilities of the applicant. Usually, questions are tailored as per the selected field of the student, where the student is required to select the best answer from multiple-choice options.
Scoring System
There is no pass-or-fail result for TestAS; the candidate receives:
Standard Scores – indicating overall performance that is relative to other test takers.
Percentile Rankings – indicating the percentile that reflects how a student has performed in comparison to others. Explanation:
- 90th percentile means that the student has performed better than 90% of test takers
- 75th percentile would mean that the student has scored higher than 75% of other participating candidates.
These scores form part of the university admission evaluation process.
Registration Process for TestAS
The registration process for TestAS is simple. Here are a few Steps to follow:
- Step 1. Create an account by visiting the official TestAS portal and create a candidate account.
- Step 2. Select Test Date by choosing an available examination date, and also select the test center.
- Step 3. Choose language, either English or German.
- Step 4. Select Subject Module that aligns with the program you want to study.
- Step 5. Pay the Fee according to the prescribed fee structure.
- Step 6. Receive Confirmation – candidates receive confirmation and examination details, after the fee is paid.
