Can You Become a Psychologist After Studying Psychology in Dubai?

You can become a psychologist after studying psychology in Dubai, but a psychology degree alone does not automatically make you a licensed practising psychologist. Here is the pathway which needs to be followed.

1) Bachelor’s degree in Psychology: A bachelor’s degree provides the academic foundation. However, for a professional psychologist role in Dubai, further study and supervised/professional experience are generally required.

2) Master’s or Doctoral degree: The current PQR recognises two main routes: Bachelor's in Psychology + Master's in Psychology: The master's degree must be a minimum of two years, followed by two years of post-qualification experience.

Bachelor's in Psychology + Doctoral Degree in Psychology: This route requires one year of post-qualification experience in a related field.

The PQR also notes that bachelor's degrees with a three-year course duration require additional experience.

3) Choose a specialisation: Depending on your career goals and qualifications, you may pursue a specialised area of psychology. The PQR separately recognises the Specialized Psychologist title and sets qualification and experience requirements for recognised psychology specialties.

4) Obtain the appropriate professional licence: To practise as a psychologist in a DHA-regulated healthcare facility, you need to meet the applicable PQR requirements and complete the DHA professional licensing process. DHA states that a professional cannot practise simply because their registration is active; the registration must first be activated into a professional licence by a hiring facility.

Student Life in Dubai: A Student's Perspective

Dubai offers a university experience unlike almost anywhere else: fast-paced, international, and full of contrasts. From a student's perspective, Dubai can be a good choice for those who want international exposure, modern university facilities and proximity to India's job and education markets. Here is a clear picture of

How student life looks in Dubai.

Campus Life: Dubai universities generally offer modern campuses with libraries, laboratories, study areas, sports facilities, cafés and student clubs.

Multicultural Environment: One of the biggest advantages is the opportunity to interact with people from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds. This can help international students develop communication skills, cultural awareness and global professional networks.

Part-Time Work and Internships: International students may be able to undertake certain internships, training or employment arrangements, subject to the applicable UAE work-permit requirements, their residence status and university policies. Students should confirm the required permit and conditions with their university and the relevant UAE authorities before accepting paid work or training.

Safety and Lifestyle: Dubai is known for its highly developed infrastructure and international environment. Students should nevertheless understand local laws and customs, including public behaviour, dress, alcohol, photography and online activity.

Accommodation: Students can choose between university accommodation, private student residences, shared apartments and individual rooms. Sharing accommodation can help reduce living costs.
