Nutrition and Dietetics Courses in Dubai – Universities, Fees, Intakes, Scholarships & Careers

However, students should distinguish between Nutrition/Food & Nutrition Science degrees and professional Dietetics programmes. The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) states that healthcare professionals must complete the relevant registration and licensing process to practise in Dubai.

Why Study Nutrition and Dietetics in Dubai?

Dubai has become a strong option for the students who want to build their career in nutrition and dietetics. Here are the reasons why Dubai is being preferred.

Multicultural Clinical Experience: Dubai's diverse population can expose students to different food cultures, dietary practices and health perspectives. However, the extent of clinical exposure depends on the specific university programme, curriculum and approved placement opportunities.

Opportunities to specialise: Depending on their qualification and further training, students can explore areas such as clinical nutrition and dietetics, sports nutrition, community and public-health nutrition, food science, research and wellness.

Pathways into healthcare careers: Nutrition and dietetics qualifications can lead to a range of nutrition-related careers. Potential roles include nutritionist, dietitian, sports nutrition professional, health educator, researcher and nutrition consultant, depending on the qualification, job requirements and applicable professional regulations.

Good fit for students interested in preventive healthcare: Nutrition professionals play an important role in preventing and managing diet-related health problems.

Licensing Requirements for Dietitians in the UAE

To work legally as a dietitian in the UAE, the graduates generally need a professional licence from the health authority governing the emirate where

they intend to practise. The UAE uses a Unified Healthcare Professional Qualification Requirements (PQR) framework, implemented by authorities

including the Dubai Health Authority (DHA), Department of Health–Abu Dhabi (DoH), and Ministry of Health and Prevention (MOHAP). The key requirements are:

Relevant degree- The degree must meet the qualification requirements for the professional title being sought. For example, the PQR distinguishes between Clinical Dietitian and Nutritionist requirements.

Academic recognition- Qualifications must satisfy the PQR's recognition requirements, and applicants may need to provide academic transcripts and other credential documents.

Clinical training/experience- Experience requirements depend on the title and applicant category. Under the 2025 PQR, for example, Clinical Dietitians and Nutritionists generally require two years of relevant post-qualification experience, subject to the specific PQR provisions.

Professional registration/licence – Where applicable, applicants must hold valid professional registration or a licence in their home country and/or country of last employment.

Good Standing Certificate- Applicants may need a recent Good Standing Certificate confirming that they are not prohibited or restricted from practising. DHA specifies that the certificate should generally not be older than six months at the time of application.

Primary Source Verification- Qualifications, experience and registration documents are subject to verification through the approved verification process, such as DataFlow.

Assessment/examination- Some applicants may need to complete a computer-based or other professional assessment. However, an examination is not automatically required for every applicant.
