IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study, work or migrate where English is the language of communication.
IELTS is recognized by universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA. Students applying for a student's visa will have to give the test on ACADEMIC IELTS, and those applying for work or migration will give the GENERAL IELTS. There are few differences between the two, but they both equally test the proficiency of the English Language for any country.
