Pathway to PR after Completing Agricultural Studies in NZ

Once you have completed your studies in New Zealand, it’s time for applying for In-demand Roles in Agriculture in NZ. Each agriculture course in NZ is sure to offer some form of training or work experiences, so it is likely that you already have a job with you.

  • If you don’t have a job lined up, go the student visa route and apply for your post-study work visa after qualification.
  • The post-study work visa allows you to live and stay in NZ for a maximum of three years. You can be employed and work for any employer as long as you have obtained a qualification at Level 7 Courses or above.
  • This gives you time to look for a suitable job in the industry you studied.

Once you have got a relevant job, which is also under the skills shortage list, you can proceed to apply for various categories of visa depending on the position. Most of the time, the agriculture jobs would be listed in the regional skills shortage list whereby you will be required to live and work in specified regions.

Skilled Migrant Category Resident Visa

The skilled migrant category resident visa is permanent and requires an invitation to apply after submitting an expression of interest and scoring the required points. If your role is:

  • An ANZCO 1-3 and earns more than NZ$61,692 a year, or
  • ANZCO 4-5 and earns over NZ$86,611 a year,

After 2 years of working in a relevant role, you can apply for PR in New Zealand.

Work To Residence Visa

The following jobs are in the Green List in New Zealand and allow applying for the permanent work to residence visa:
