Singapore has one of the most advanced public transport systems in the region. Public transport in Singapore covers a variety of transport modes such as bus, rail and taxi. Bus transport in Singapore is the most comprehensive and affordable means of public transport for the masses, with over two million rides taken per day on average on the buses of the two main public transport providers SBS Transit and SMRT Corporation. The expressways of Singapore are special roads that allow motorists to travel quickly from one urban area to another..

Taxicabs are a popular form of public transport in the compact city state of Singapore, with fares considered relatively low compared to those in most cities in developed countries.

In Singapore, there is greater flexibility for foreign students in university to earn some pocket money while studying. Foreign students are allowed to work in Singapore during term time or vacation time if they are granted Work Pass exemption under the Employment of Foreign Manpower (Work Pass Exemptions) Notification. You are allowed to engage in part-time employment more than 16 hours per week. You need to seek permission from your sponsors if you are on scholarships. There is no cap during your university vacation on the number of hours a foreign university student can work.

The main features of Singapore climate are relatively uniform temperature, high humidity and abundant rainfall due to the maritime exposure of the island and its close proximity to the equator. Rain, falling all year round, is the most abundant from November, the end of the inter-monsoon to January, the first half of the Northeast Monsoon. The annual rainfall is 2352 mm. Thunderstorms are frequent during the inter-monsoon months of April-May and October-November. February is usually the sunniest month.
